One  man’s unfortunate loss has become our benefit.  The new iPhone 4G is revealed!!! The iPhone shown above was found in a bar in northern California disguised as a 3GS.  The guys over at Gizmodo.com disassembled and dissected the coveted treasure and discovered what they think is Apple’s new iPhone 4G, not scheduled to make its debut until this summer.

Though Apple may adjust or tinker with the final product,  this new design is visibly compelling.  From the streamlined exterior to the front- facing camera and high resolution picture,  Apple continues to surprise, impress and reinvent itself as only Apple can  do.

Here is a  list of the new additions and  changes  that were found :

- a camera flash has been added

- a front- facing video chat camera

- an improved regular back-camera (the lens is quite noticeably larger than the iPhone 3GS)

-what appears to be a new display with higher resolution when compared to the 3GS

- Micro- SIM instead of a standard SIM

-Split buttons for volume

-power, mute and volume buttons are metallic

-What looks to be a secondary mic for noise cancellation, at the top, next to the headphone jack

-The back is  made of either glass (more likely) or ceramic or shiny plastic in order for the cell signal to go through.

-an aluminum border lining the outside of the phone

- screen appears a little smaller than the 3GS (but seemingly higher resolution)

-3 grams heavier

-16% Larger battery

-interior components are shrunken and reduced to make room for the larger battery

Since the iPhone 4G was found, Gizmodo,  Apple has not confirmed that this is the new iPhone 4G.  As any good skeptic would do, the Gizmodo guys did a little fact checking, comparing, contrasting and came up with the following deductions:

-It was reported lost by John Gruber, associated to Apple

-according to the person who found the phone, it was running on OS 4.0, prior to 4.0 being announced by Apple.

-when connected  to the computer, it recognizes the device as an iPhone.

-the fact it uses a micro-SIM indicates the iPhone is a next generation iPhone .

-When opened up,  every part was strategically placed and conformed to that case, deducing it was made for that case and not a 3GS transplant, especially since the battery size is different and the iPhone is thinner.  3G or 3GS parts would not fit this phone’s specs.

AND the clencher……..

-when opened up, the components and parts were labeled Apple.

If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck……it must be the new 4G iPhone.

No one will actually know until Apple releases its new iPhone 4G this summer, but just remember you saw it at iPhoneiCandi.

Steve Jobs Explaining iPhone OS 4.0 New Features

Steve Jobs Explaining iPhone OS 4.0 New Features

On April 8th 2010, Steve Jobs unveiled some of the new features available to iPhone App developers as well as the end-users, namely us iPhoners, that will be available with the iPhone OS 4.0 coming this summer.

The new iPhone OS 4.0 host alot of new features that we have been asking for. The number one on my list is the ability to multi-task. This is something that other smart phones have had over the iPhone in the past such as the Droid and the Nexus One.

iPhone OS 4.0 also adds 5x digital zoom to the camera application as well as adding tap to focus for the video on  3G S. That will be nice to have since the 3G S shoots a decent video. More media enhancement tools include GEO tagging for photo taken with your iPhone 3G or iPhone 3G S. iPhone OS 4.0 will also permit non-Jailbroken iPhone users to change your home screen wallpaper to whatever you like.

Another useful utility is the ability to group all your apps in folders. This is good if you have alot of games and business related apps and would prefer to arrange them in groups relative to their use. Also a handy spell check has been add and you can also use a bluetooth keyboard if you don’t like using the small touch screen for writing emails or other daily task that consist of alot of typing.

There are many more features available in this up coming update. We will post more as they reveal more of the features. In the mean time, check out the video…

Apple will no longer support 2G iPhones

April 13th, 2010 denimdragon No comments

He did it again, and with his usual style we’ve gotten used to. Steve Jobs has replied to a customer mail regarding the future support for the iPhone 2G (do you even remember it?) and clearly said:
“Sorry, no.
Sent from my iPhone”
So, the first generation iPhone won’t be supported anymore from Apple. And this is quite fair, as technology moves forward and old models are left behind. We didn’t get any confirmation about this at the latest Apple event, except that iPhone OS 4.0 isn’t entirely compatible with the iPhone 3G and old iPod Touch. But now, Steve himself said that not only the iPhone 2G won’t run OS 4.0 as it should, but that Apple is officially dropping support for it.
You should upgrade your phone, folks. iPhoneicandi will still support it…

SlingPlayer Now Available for 3G

Sling

Apple finally approved the 3G-streaming capable version of the popular TV-streaming iPhone application, SlingPlayer. As most of us know, Sling, Apple, and AT&T and previously tussled over the concept of streaming live TV over AT&T’s 3G bands, as they had suspected that it would place to much strain on the network, especially with the popularity of the iPhone. However, just like their recent lift on the VoIP ban, which AT&T anticipated would keep people from using their AT&T minutes by using a service like Skype to make calls instead, AT&T seem to have lifted this “live TV streaming” ban as well. Until now, only jailbreakers who had paid for a premium app such as 3G Unrestrictor or My3G were able to stream Sling over the 3G airwaves, but it looks like today, everyone is free to watch Sling on their iPhone at their leisure.

I can also personally confirm that streaming works on EDGE as well (this is good for you T-Mobile customers =])

Dragon Dictation iPhone App

Dragon Dictation iPhone App

Dragon Dictation iPhone App

Here is an iPhone app that has been long over due. With everyone resorting to text messaging, this is one of the handiest apps to come about. There has been some dictation apps before but Dragon Dictation by Nuance, the worlds most popular desktop dictation software, has created one that seems to be the most feasible in the bunch.

The Dragon Dictation app does almost everything you would normal do with your iPhone keyboard, but you use your voice instead. With all the people causing wrecks and other traffic mayhem due to the new texting culture rapidly developing, this is a no brainer. This also includes the ability to say your latest tweets or Facebook updates. Clipboard cutting and pasting is supported as well.

The app is free (for a limited time) and is still pending approval in the App Store. There is some concern about Nuance gathering the names and companies in your address book, which is expressed in there EULA. Other than that this looks like a nice app. Have fun and please leave commits about your experience with this app.
