Project “4306″ in the works

"4306" Project

Another customer project in the works here at iphoneicandi. We actually had the opportunity to see the ring-leader at his best on this one guys. These iPhones are for one of their clients, and obviously, a very important one. Anything that warrants the boss getting his hands dirty has to be pretty heavy stuff. These are a series of 4 1st generation iPhones that have been totally restored internally (all new OEM hardware ) to their former glory, and running on OS 3.0 platform. The concept here is to make the iPhones into a membership card graphically for a select few who will be platinum alumni at a very exclusive members only club based in Texas. The task is daunting due to the custom font that is used for the letters on the original membership card. It entails rich detail and includes gold lettering on the phones that is actually  18kt gold dust mixed inside of the actual paints. That’s right, REAL GOLD! Who ever the recipients of these masterpieces are, must be some real heavy weights.

“This project is my personal baby and I have uttermost faith in my staff, but it is such unchartered territory that I wanted to get in on it myself”, said Eric Patterson owner of  PMI, the parent company of iphoneicandi. “Spraying with real gold is a bit of a challenge when you are using mini guns due to the malleabilty of gold itself. We had some complications with the gold dust clogging up our brushes. One we figured that out, it became a very interesting project. We are near completion of the first prototype. Once we receive approval from our client, we should be able to wrap the project up in a couple of days”.

This project can mean alot for iPhone users who crave individuality and exclusiveness for their prized mobile device. “If all goes well, we may start a series of precious metal customs. I’m interested in how platinum, rhodium, and silver will look mixed with the proper mediums”, Eric went on to say. The mere fact that iPhone customisation is possible is a nice alternative, but these guys are taking it to a different level. Keep you eyes peeled people. Who knows whats next with this bunch…

Fade To Black Custom iPhone Series

"Fade to Black" Series

"Fade to Black" Series

Fresh out the oven from iPhoneiCandi, comes the “Fade to BLack” series of custom iPhones. These iPhone 3Gs are limited to a series of 5 per color in 5 colors for a total of 25 total phones. Each “Fade to Black” iPhone will come with Serial number and a signed Certificate of Authenticity from the artist who creates it.

This particular iPhone, pictured to the left, is Candy Apple Red and the silver Apple logo is visible when different angles of light hit the logo. If you were to look at the iPhone directly, there doesn’t seem to be an apple there. “This is the effect we were looking for on this project” says Blake C, one of the artists who collaborated with iPiC on this series. “It’s quite difficult to achieve these results on such a small canvas such as the iPhone, but when Eric (owner of iPiC) came to me with the concept, I was up to the challenge. The only complications we had were getting the proper paints that would give the desired fade appearance while still keeping the paint transparent so the Apple logo would still be visible.”

All of the “Fade to Black” series will be 8gb 3G iphones with the exception of one 16gb 3G per color for a total of 5 16gb 3G iPhones and 20 8gb 3G iPhones. For more information on getting one of these works of art, contact Eric

iTunes 8.2.1

iTunes 8.2.1 Now Available

iTunes 8.2.1 Now Available

Well, iTune 8.2.1 is out and available for download. For all you people out there with jailbroken iPhones running on the 3.0 firmware, I would advise that you not upgrade to this version until the dev teams see what the differences are in this new version. It has been verified that the new iTunes will not sync with the Palm Pre, which was one of the features that was possible with the iTunes 8.2 version that was released on June 1st. That was inevitable in my opinion. Apple doesn’t want anyone but Apple using their features.

Apple claims that there are some minor bug fixes, but I’m quite sure there is alot more than that going on. They are on the losing end of the cat and mouse game being played with the iPhone hacking community, even though software has been created that is totally independent of  iTunes’ use to jailbreak iPhone 2G, 3G, and 3G S. It has been rumoured that the new software being released will send information about the iPhone to Apple. I’m quite sure that the information will tell Apple if your iPhone is unlocked or jailbroken. That feature could be present in the iTunes update as well as the 3.1 firmware which will be released soon. I advise that you steer clear of both until we can found out what Apple has up their sleeve.

Wacky Wifi Issues With iPhone 3.0 Firmware

July 15th, 2009 denimdragon No comments

no_20wifi_smallWith the new iPhone 3.0 firmware upgrade, there seem to be a ton of complaints about iPhone 2G, 3G, and 3G S having issues with the wifi working on the phone. It seems that the iPhones ability to maintain signal strength has been hindered in some form from the new update. Apple has said that the way the wifi is set-up on the 3.0 Firmware has been altered in order to increase battery life when wifi is in use on the iPhone (6 hours iPhone 3G, 9 hours iPhone 3G S).

Judging from the huge amount of complaints on the Apple discussion board, they have missed the mark. I upgraded one of my 1Gen iPhones and my wifi stopped working all together. It seems to be a random problem from iPhone to iPhone, but the fact that it is occurring on all 3 generations of iPhones seems to indicate that it is definitely a software issue. This may explain the quick release of 3.1 Firmware soon to be available.

Currently Apple has released the iPhone SDK 3.1 beta 2 to developers, which is usually a good indicator that a public release of the official firmware is right around the corner. I’m sure they will also attempt to patch up more of the security holes that were exploited on the 3.0 firmware as well as fixing the wifi problems. Lets hope that this firmware update will be the solution and allow us to have fully functioning iPhones again…

Crimson Edition iPhone 2G

Crimson Edition iPhone 2G

Well it’s about time to display why this site has the name it does. We all love iPhones,
but one thing really bites about them, they all look the same. Black, White, and Aluminum
doesn’t leave much to individualism. We see that as a flaw for a great device, we decided to
start customizing iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3GS.

Above is one of our iPhone 2Gs from our Crimson Series. Only 5 of these iPhones will
be created this year due to the lengthy painting and coating process used for this series.

The process that we use to customize our iPhones is backed by 15 years experience
in the Art, Graphics, and finishing fields. Our customs are highly resistant to chipping
and cracking. We only use Auto Air Paints which are the best on the market. A 3 step
process is implemented to achieve this desired effect on our iPhones.

Custom colors will be available for purchase within the next month. Soon after full
graphics and custom designs will be available upon request. For more information,
stay tuned. You may also contact us via email.
